City Island (2009)

In the heart of the tiny Bronx enclave known as City Island, we find the Rizzos - a family cloaked in a delicate, intricate web of unspoken dreams and concealed lives. Vince Rizzo (Andy Garcia), the patriarch, walks the line between a dutiful corrections officer by day and an aspiring actor in secret. His fear of judgment and ridicule pushes him to veil his clandestine acting classes behind a false narrative of an extramarital affair, a lie more palatable to his fiery wife, Joyce (Julianna Margulies). As the walls of Vince's double life begin to close in, an unexpected opportunity in his acting class forces him to confront his biggest secret, igniting a chain reaction of revelations that upends their seemingly ordinary suburban existence. Inspired, Vince decides to reconnect with his long-lost ex-con son, Tony (Steven Strait), ushering him into the familial fold. However, the shadows of secrecy extend beyond Vince. His college-going daughter (Dominik García-Lorido), quirky teenage son Vinnie, Jr. (Ezra Miller), enigmatic acting partner (Emily Mortimer), and insightful drama coach (Alan Arkin) are all harboring their own veiled truths. The Rizzos, a family who has long avoided sharing their genuine selves with each other, find their world unraveled by the whirlwind of deception and half-truths.
