Plot

In the towering maze of New York City, long-time homicide detective Vincent LaMarca has carved a path of distinction, his name echoing in the halls of law enforcement as a symbol of relentless dedication. Yet, beneath the solid facade of a devoted officer, Vincent's world is marred by the ghosts of his past, his life steeped in solitude, his heart barricaded within the sterile confines of Manhattan. His only solace, the camaraderie with his partner, Reg, is checked by the doors of the precinct, a boundary that safeguards his present from the haunting specters of his past. A chilling murder case, however, threatens this delicate balance. The suspect under his probing gaze is none other than his estranged son, Joey, a painful reminder of the decaying boardwalks of Long Beach, the self-proclaimed 'City by the Sea', where Vincent's old life lies in wait. The echoes of a painful memory, the execution of his father - a convicted murderer - still reverberate in the depths of his soul, a torment he has carried since childhood. Returning to Long Beach, Vincent is confronted with the harsh truth of his own failures as a father, his unresolved pain casting long shadows over Joey's life. Now, his innocent 18-month-old grandson stands on the precipice of their shared destructive heritage, a chilling prospect Vincent must confront. A saga of redemption and reckoning, 'City by the Sea' is a poignant exploration of a man's struggle against his past, his fight for the future of his lineage, and the relentless pursuit of truth in the labyrinth of the law.
