Christmas with the Darlings (2020)

In the heart of Connecticut lies Darlington Industries, a thriving family empire run by the old money Darlington family. After two and a half years of dedicated service as an executive assistant to the company's CEO, Charles Darlington, Jessica Lew is on the verge of a career shift to the company's legal division, her recently obtained law degree and bar exam pass in her arsenal. As the year winds down and Charles prepares for a business trip to Europe, Jess is entrusted with one final task before she can relish her Christmas break: welcoming Charles' orphaned nieces and nephew - Emma, J. Henry, and Abby - back home. The children, who have spent almost four years in Australia with their parents, are now under the guardianship of Charles and his free-spirited brother, Max Darlington. Max, despite being the official company president, lives a carefree life detached from the family business. Charles' departure and Max's obliviousness to his new responsibilities, coupled with their aging housekeeper's inability to single-handedly care for the children, lead Charles to arrange for the kids to spend Christmas at a boarding school. However, Jess, empathizing with the children's situation, and Max, upon discovering his newfound responsibilities, decide to alter their own holiday plans to ensure the children experience a warm Christmas at the grand Darlington Manor. As the holiday season unfolds, Jess not only uncovers the heartwarming innocence of the children, but also realizes that Max is much more than the irresponsible image portrayed by his older brother. As Jess and Max grow closer and feelings begin to blossom, they start to imagine a new trajectory for themselves and the children - a path that may face resistance from Charles, who has always seen his younger brother through a singular, rigid lens.
