Plot

In the heartwarming holiday film, "A Christmas Detour" (2015), radiant bride-to-be, Paige Summerlind, renowned writer for Radiant Bride magazine, finds herself embarking on an unexpected journey that could redefine her understanding of love. With plans to spend Christmas in New York City with her dashing fiance, Jack Collins, and meet his high-society parents for the first time, Paige’s world is turned upside down when her flight from Los Angeles is grounded due to a harsh winter storm. Now stranded at Buffalo-Niagara Airport, the clock is ticking as Paige's hopes of reaching the city before Jack's parents depart for their vacation wane. Her meticulously planned future and her faith in her latest article, "100 Ways to Find Your Perfect Mate", which her nearly exemplary fiance Jack embodies, are challenged in this unforeseen detour. In this snow-swept setting, Paige is thrown together with a trio of fellow waylaid passengers. Among them are Maxine and Frank Harper, a couple whose twenty years of marriage have become more about routine than romance, and the enigmatic Dylan Smith, a loner who seems to be running from his past rather than rushing home for the holidays. Dylan's resistance to Paige's life checklists and their frequent clashes add sparks to the frosty atmosphere. As the unlikely quartet embarks on a madcap, "planes, trains and automobiles" journey to reach New York City, they navigate through surprises, heartaches, and revelations. Amid the chaos, the spirit of Christmas and the unpredictability of love may lead them all to find a deeper understanding of what truly makes a Merry Christmas and a fulfilling life.
