As the frost of Christmas descends, ambitious Riley Vance, a product of Exeter, New Hampshire, finds herself battling the biting chill of New York City, determined to secure employment before the holiday season. Despite her college credentials and professional prowess, she remains jobless, her business competence inherited from her online retailer father going unrecognized due to the lack of an Ivy League stamp on her resume. Luck, however, has a peculiar way of intervening, leading Riley to the open doors of Young Incorporated, where she becomes the personal assistant to the newly anointed head, William Young, due to a delightful misunderstanding.
William, recently inheriting the reins from his late father, Thomas Young, the company's founder, is torn between preserving his father's legacy and making his own mark. His first significant challenge lies in the company's struggling toy factory in Dover, New Hampshire, where the melodies of Christmas cheer are drowned by the whispers of looming closure. Despite the chorus of senior advisers urging closure, Riley, driven by her inherent Christmas spirit, persuades William to visit the factory, to interact with its heartbeat - its employees.
William, admittedly bereft of the Christmas spirit that once resided in his heart, agrees to the visit, unaware that it would not just be a routine corporate assessment. Little does he know, he's about to embark on a journey that might rekindle his long-lost Yuletide joy. However, standing in Riley's path to save the toy factory and Christmas in Dover is the relentless local journalist, Rebecca Neston, hell-bent on unmasking a potentially career-defining story.
With the support of Dover's compassionate Mayor Martin Keegan and a mysterious, red-suited gentleman from the North Pole, Riley must navigate the stormy seas of corporate politics, local journalism, and her own moral compass. All while endeavoring to save Christmas for Dover and possibly breathe the Christmas spirit back into the heart of William Young, and in the process, redefine the meaning of Christmas itself.
