Plot

Amidst the tumult of 1930s British India, a young, uncertain soul named Jhunku, barely 14, is thrust into the heart of a maelstrom of rebellion. Chittagong (2012), a riveting action-drama rooted in historical truth, vividly paints the journey of this young boy as he grapples with his place in a world on the brink of revolution. The canvas of this tumultuous era becomes even more vibrant as, for the first time in Indian history, a motley crew of schoolboys and their inspirational teacher, Masterda, triumph over the formidable British army. Jhunku's life is turned inside out as he impulsively plunges into the movement, spurred by betrayal from a trusted ally and scorned as a traitor by his peers. As the pillars of the rebellion are steadily toppled, either entrapped or slain, Jhunku finds himself locked in a struggle against staggering odds. His battle is not just against the oppressive British regime, but also the crippling self-doubt gnawing at him. The narrative takes a dramatic turn as Jhunku, once a mere schoolboy, transforms into the beacon of hope for oppressed peasants. He leads them in a successful revolt to reclaim their food-grains usurped by the British, thereby etching a victory not just for himself but for his people. Chittagong is a stirring testament to the power of youth and the indomitable spirit of rebellion. It tells a compelling story of courage, resilience and the fiery desire for freedom in the face of tyranny and adversity.
