Chillar Party (2011)

In the bustling heart of Mumbai's Chandan Nagar, life takes an unexpected turn when an outgoing employee is replaced by a young boy, Fatka. He arrives accompanied by his only companion, a stray dog named Bhidu, also known as Buddy. Homeless and orphaned, they find solace in an abandoned antique car, transforming it into their makeshift home. The transition, however, isn't smooth, as resentment brews among the local children. Despite initial friction, Fatka's exceptional cricketing skills soon earn him a place on the local team, and the ice begins to break. But the tranquillity is short-lived. A sudden visit by the cunning politician Shashikant Bhide introduces a stringent new municipal legislation; its mandate - to capture all stray dogs. This places Bhidu's life in grave peril. The children of Chandan Nagar, once carefree and playful, now find themselves thrust into the daunting world of politics. Their initial effort to rally support from the residents fails, but their indomitable spirit remains unbroken. They decide to launch an unconventional protest, challenging the powerful Bhide and his campaign. As the battle lines are drawn, the children's quest becomes twofold - to shield Bhidu from the dreaded legislation and to resist the mounting pressure from Bhide and Chandan Nagar's Secretary, Tandon. In this heart-warming tale, the innocence of childhood collides with the harsh realities of the adult world, sparking a fight that will test friendships, courage, and the power of unity.
