In the heart of the bustling literary world, George Schneider, a forty-two-year-old esteemed novelist, finds himself entangled in the throes of grief following the untimely demise of his beloved wife, Barbara. Their twelve-year marriage, now an echoing memory, casts a shadow over George's ability to embrace the joys of life anew. Simultaneously, the vivacious and charming actress Jennie MacLaine grapples with the fresh wounds of a sorrowful divorce from her husband, Gus.
As two caring souls caught in their respective maelstroms of heartache, George and Jennie are urged by their well-meaning confidantes to move forward. George's brother Leo, and Jennie's best friend Faye, themselves a pair once entwined by passion, conspire to nudge the grieving novelist and the newly single actress towards the uncertain path of new love.
