Plot

In the stirring drama, "Care" (2000), we journey through the turbulent life of 15-year-old Davey Younger. Uprooted from his familiar surroundings, Davey finds himself in the austere Glenavon care home for boys in the rugged heart of Wales. Here, he falls prey to the unthinkable - sexual abuse at the hands of two staff members and a visiting magistrate. A veil of silence shrouds these atrocities, as the young Davey is left to grapple with his traumatic experiences. Fast forward to a seemingly normal adult life, Davey, now a family man, has buried his past deep beneath a façade of normality. His world is disrupted when television journalist Elaine Hughes, armed with the truth, seeks him out. The dominoes start to fall when sympathetic councillor Tony Collins initiates an investigation into the historic abuse. Despite his apprehensions, Davey's battle with his past is reignited. He grapples with the fear that his allegations against the powerful magistrate will be dismissed. Yet, he finds the courage to face the courtroom, hoping his testimony will serve justice, although the outcome may not align with everyone's expectations. The movie "Care" is a poignant exploration of confronting one's past, seeking justice, and the personal cost of truth.
