Plot

Set against the backdrop of 1948 in the fictional landscape of Zakharstan—a mirror of Afghanistan—Caravans weaves a gripping tale of love, rebellion, and political intrigue. Young U.S. Embassy operative, Mark Miller (Michael Sarazyn), is thrown into the heart of this tumultuous world as he is tasked with tracing the elusive Ellen Jasper (Jennifer O'Neill), a senator's daughter turned Colonel's wife, who has mysteriously vanished. As Miller delves deeper into the labyrinthine mystery, he uncovers a riveting tale of escape and survival. Ellen Jasper (Jennifer O'Neill) has sought refuge among a nomadic tribe led by the charismatic Zulffiqar (Anthony Quinn), fleeing from the clutches of her husband, Colonel Nazrullah (Behrouz Vossoughi). Despite Miller's attempts, he fails to persuade Ellen to return home to her father. Instead, he finds himself drawn into the tribe's struggles. Zulffiqar, the tribal leader, is a defiant outlaw resisting government efforts to force a permanent settlement on his people. Alongside another rebel, Shakkur (Mohamad Ali Keshavarz), Zulffiqar engages in a dangerous dance with Russian arms trafficking. Caravans is a thrilling journey into a world of rebellion, love, and the fight for freedom, where loyalty is tested, and secrets are as abundant as the shifting sands of Zakharstan.
