Plot
One day Richard Phillips is just doing his job. He's the captain of ship. The next, he's a victim. He's been kidnapped by Somali pirates. They want to his ship and they want to hold him and his crew for ransom. Based on a true story, Captain Phillips brings Tom Hanks in play as the title role. He must figure out a way to engage with the local pirates. The story is about him and how he interacts with the local pirate captain. It's also about larger forces that dictate how both men react and what happens as they do.
