Candiland (2016)

Haunted by his past as a failed tennis player, Peter grapples with the bitter aftermath of a career-ending car accident. His life is steeped in frustration, directed at the superficial materialism of society and his emotionally distant father, Arnie, whom Peter blames for neglecting him during his mother's dying days. Amidst his tumultuous inner turmoil, he seeks an escape into what remains of his normal life. One night, in the dimly-lit ambience of a local bar, he stumbles upon Tess, a woman grappling with her own demons following a painful divorce. They find a mutual comfort in their shared despair, kindling a passionate love affair that brings a fleeting sense of bliss. However, their happiness is threatened when Tess attempts to face the remnants of her shattered marriage.
