In the heart of Denver, the threads of connection between long-divorced math teacher Dana Henderson and her thirteen-year-old son, Arthur, are fraying. The regimented and overprotective Dana, whose fears permeate Arthur's life, feels the distance growing, amplified by her role as his teacher. Parallel to this, Steve Reynolds, a year into his divorce, grapples with his relationship with his high schooler daughter, Lacey. The diligent student now neglects her education, her attitude reflecting the emotional scars of her parents' separation. Driven by desperation and hope, Dana and Steve independently decide to breach their comfort zones, embarking on a four-day spring break camping trip with their children amidst the whispering pines.
