Plot

In the vibrant world of musical theater camp, a motley crew of young misfits, unsung in their mundane lives, find solace and camaraderie. The camp pulsates with relentless rehearsals, as the young performers must put on a new show every two weeks under the watchful eye of their counselors. Among them is Bert Hanley, a once-celebrated Broadway songwriter now trapped in a quagmire of cynicism and alcohol, who finds unlikely inspiration amidst the youthful energy and raw talent of his campers. The camp becomes a stage for their personal dramas: Vlad, the talented golden-boy, must confront his feelings for Ellen, while cross-dressing Michael grapples with his estranged relationship with his parents. Fritzi, constantly in the shadow of the camp's glamour girl, Jill, is urged to step into the limelight and discover her own worth. Meanwhile, Jenna's parents are compelled to reevaluate their decision to wire her jaw shut rather than send her to "fat camp" as they witness her thrive in this creative sanctuary. As the summer season reaches its grand finale, each character is set on a collision course with their own realities, their stories intertwining in a compelling narrative of self-discovery, ambition, and the transformative power of art. The stage is set for a climactic end-of-season benefit that promises not only spectacular performances but also life-changing revelations. "Camp" is a heartwarming tale of passion, acceptance, and the magic of musical theater.
