Plot

In the vibrant heart of Vienna, 1902, radiant and youthful Alma Schindler, a woman whose life beats to the rhythm of her own music, encounters Gustav Mahler. Her beauty is undeniable, and her talent for playing and composing music is equally mesmerizing. Succumbing to the charm of Mahler, she soon becomes his lover, and eventually, his wife, at the cost of her musical aspiration. As Mahler's wife, she dutifully juggles multiple roles — a mother, an assistant, a financial savior, all while suppressing her longing to compose, her very essence. In the bleak year of 1910, Alma, emotionally drained after the loss of a child, seeks solace in a tranquil spa. Here, she meets and falls for the alluring Walter Gropius. Torn between her loyalty to Mahler and her newfound love, she faces a stirring dilemma. An affair with the fiery and passionate Oskar Kokoschka further complicates her life, bringing a different type of confinement. Fate then leads her to marry Gropius, who, despite his charm, turns out to be domineering. Weary and discontented, she leaves him for the gentle Franz Werfel. It is Werfel who discovers her hidden musical compositions and passionately advocates for her talent to be recognized by the world. As the curtains close, one is left wondering, will Alma finally have her symphony heard?
