Plot
In the heart of Madrid's rapidly evolving district of Chueca, we meet Victor (Pablo Puyol), a cunning real estate agent with a sinister secret. Victor's properties, charmingly refurbished and brimming with allure, only hit the market after he masterfully orchestrates the demise of the elderly female inhabitants and artfully stages them as suicides. His grand scheme? To transform the quaint neighborhood into a thriving gayborhood, mirroring the vibrant and trendy areas of Castro in San Francisco and Chelsea in New York.
When Victor's latest victim happens to be the neighbor of the upbeat gay couple, Ray (Carlos Fuentes) and Leo (Pepón Nieto), the plot thickens. Inheriting the apartment, they generously gift it to Ray's loving mother, Antonia (Concha Velasco). However, Antonia doesn't fit into Victor's blueprint for an affluent, gay-populated enclave, and he commences a devious plan to oust her.
Adding a dash of eccentricity to this taut narrative is the quirky Inspector Mila (Rosa Maria Sardà), and her delightfully naive son Luis, assigned to the mysterious string of 'suicides' plaguing Chueca. As the narrative unfolds, Chueca becomes a comedic battleground of unexpected twists and turns, a whirlwind of romantic entanglements, and a chilling string of murders, all masterfully woven together in the captivating tapestry that is BOYSTOWN (Chuecatown).
