Plot

In the bustling world of California's truck driving industry, Steve Hackett and Bill Purvis find themselves jobless after their unconventional driving techniques land them in hot water with the West Coast Trucking company. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the company's vice-president, Davis, offers them a lucrative deal: a thousand-dollar bonus to transport a load of 'lettuce' to the parched town of Arrowhead. The stakes rise when, just outside the heart of Los Angeles, the duo are intercepted by a mob of striking lettuce farmers. As the first crate is cast off the truck, it detonates, revealing the true nature of their cargo: a volatile payload of dynamite. Now with the blessing of the workers, their journey continues, fraught with danger at every turn. An accidental encounter with Mary Stevens, a woman they had previously met at a local diner, and her faithful dog Butch, sparks an unusual alliance. Together, they navigate treacherous roads and confrontations with armed henchmen to deliver the explosive cargo. Unbeknownst to them, a nefarious plot unravels in the background. A rapacious land baron has seized control of the dam providing water to Indian Head, threatening the livelihood of the local ranchers and farmers. His goal? To claim their parched lands for himself. As Steve, Bill, and Mary uncover this sinister scheme, they find themselves in a race against time. They must use their dynamite to liberate the dam, restore the water supply to Indian Head, and thwart the land baron's ruthless plans. The once simple trucking job morphs into a high-stakes fight for justice, where the lines between friend and foe blur amidst the dust of the open road.
