Plot
In an attempt to celebrate a tranquil 4th of July, the Bumstead clan heads to the rustic charm of Aunt Hannah's ranch. However, their journey takes an unexpected detour when they miss their scheduled station and end up hitching a ride with a pair of young lovebirds on the brink of eloping. Fate intervenes, and when Charlie, the young suitor, injures his ankle, Dagwood is roped into acting as the gallant knight whisking away the bride-to-be.
However, a mix-up lands him in the fiery wrath of the girl's father's window instead of her waiting arms. Amidst the escalating tension, Baby Dumpling ignites a firecracker that is, in a startling twist, a stick of dynamite. As pandemonium reaches a fever pitch, an unexpected oil gusher bursts forth in the yard, adding a layer of oil-soaked chaos to this already explosive 4th of July.
