Black Belt Jones (1974)

When the cunning Don of the Mafia learns about the city’s plan for a lucrative new civic center, he sets his sights on buying up all the land in its proposed location. One small piece of property stands in his way: an old karate school owned by the spirited Papa Byrd, a respected figure in the African-American community. The Don dispatches Big Tuna, his ruthless right-hand man, and Pinky, their local emissary, with the task of acquiring this final piece of the puzzle. Pinky's attempts to intimidate Papa Byrd and seize his beloved school, however, are met with fierce resistance. His crude tactics inadvertently lead to the tragic death of Papa Byrd, stirring a storm in the close-knit community. As word of this tragedy reaches the ears of Black Belt Jones, a formidable friend of Papa Byrd, he vows to rectify the situation. The plot takes a twist when it is revealed that the school now belongs to Sydney, Papa Byrd's estranged daughter. Black Belt Jones, seeking justice and determined to protect Sydney, leverages his government connections to unravel the Mafia's sinister plans. Sydney, a fiery spirit like her father, returns for the funeral and learns about the threat to her inheritance. She confronts Pinky, igniting a deadly feud that escalates quickly.
