Beyond the Mask (2015)

Set against the backdrop of the British East India Company's merciless rule, "Beyond the Mask" chronicles the life of William Reynolds, an ex-assassin seeking redemption. Betrayed by his ruthless boss, Charles Kemp, who fears what secrets William may spill, he embarks on a desperate fight for survival. Intrigue ensues as William assumes the identity of a vicar he had inadvertently caused to perish, finding solace in the tranquil rhythms of a life lived in the service of others. He successfully adapts to his newfound clergyman status and surrenders his heart to the captivating Charlotte Holloway, a love that is threatened when a ghost from his past resurfaces. Forced to kill again, William cloaks his sin in the night's embrace, intensifying his longing for a life unmarred by violence. The plot thickens when William proposes to Charlotte, contingent on the approval of her uncle. The ensuing Thanksgiving gathering becomes a crucible of tension as Charlotte's uncle reveals himself to be none other than Charles Kemp, shattering Charlotte's trust and reigniting the pursuit of William's life. Fleeing yet again, and once more adopting the identity of a dead rescuer, Jeremiah Flack, William finds himself in the budding colony of Pennsylvania. Here, he enters the print shop of the inventive Benjamin Franklin, earning the polymath's trust and aligning himself with the revolutionary cause. As the specter of his past looms larger, and with the birth of a new nation hanging in the balance, William must navigate the treacherous waters of deception and betrayal. He must regain Charlotte's trust, win Franklin's support, and thwart Charles Kemp's nefarious plans, all while racing against the clock in a bid to finally shed his mask and embrace the promise of redemption.
