Plot

In the enigmatic underbelly of Parisian nightlife, we find Betty, a self-destructive woman drowning her sorrows in a nebulous haze of alcohol. Her aimless wandering leads her to a man who introduces her to Le Trou (The Hole), a distinctive restaurant on the outskirts of the city. It is here that Betty encounters Laure, a kind-hearted yet similarly flawed middle-aged woman from Lyon. Laure, entwined in a complicated romance with Le Trou's owner, Mario, takes it upon herself to look after the beleaguered Betty. In the dimly lit solitude of Laure's adjacent hotel room, the women form a bond fueled by shared experiences and mutual heartache. As the days unfurl, Betty starts unraveling the tapestry of her life to Laure. She delves into her past, revealing the bitterness of a loveless marriage and the pain inflicted by a hostile divorce settlement forced upon her by her bourgeois in-laws. Betty's confessions are punctuated by vivid recollections of a promiscuous life and the heartrending loss of her daughters, from whom she has been barred. Laure's boyfriend, Mario, initially a mere acquaintance from the bar, gradually becomes a source of solace for Betty. Amidst the chaos of her life, he emerges as an unexpected beacon of hope, transforming from a friend to her new romantic pursuit. 'Betty' is a captivating exploration of a woman's struggle to navigate the labyrinth of life, pain, love, and redemption in the midst of her spiraling downfall.
