Plot

In the heart of the French Alps during the gripping year of 1943, we find young Sébastien, an orphan residing in a quaint village with his shepherd grandfather, César, and his baker aunt, Angélina. As he yearns for his mother, whom he imagines exploring America, Sébastien eagerly awaits a special gift from her: a watch embedded with a compass. In this village, the noble Dr. Guillaume conceals a secret life as a member of the French resistance, aiding Jewish refugees in their perilous escape to Switzerland, all while under the relentless pursuit of German Lieutenant Peter and his troops. Amidst the turmoil, the villagers are plagued by a series of mysterious sheep slaughters, leading them to a merciless hunt for a supposedly stray, dangerous dog, believed to be the culprit. However, when Sébastien crosses paths with this misunderstood creature, he forms an unbreakable bond, christening her 'Belle'. As their friendship blossoms, Belle becomes the village's feared beast. Now, young Sébastien must summon his courage and take on the daunting task of saving Belle from the villagers' wrath. Will he succeed in his endeavor? The tale of Belle and Sebastian is a poignant journey of friendship, bravery, and the fight for justice in the face of adversity.
