Plot

In a world fraught with hardship, young Soon-Young (Kim Sae-Ron) finds herself the backbone of her family. She shares her humble abode with her mentally challenged father (Jo Yong-Suk), conniving uncle (Lee Chun-Hee), and perpetually sickly younger sister, Soon-Ja (Kim Ah-Ron). Amidst the chaos, Soon-Ja finds solace in the company of her Barbie doll, dreaming of an idyllic life far away in the United States. Their mundane existence is disrupted when the mysterious Mang-Taek introduces them to an American man, eager to adopt a healthy Korean girl. A transactional deal is struck, with Soon-Young at the heart of it. However, upon learning of the impending adoption, a wave of jealousy washes over Soon-Ja. She yearns for the American dream, proposing to replace her older sister. Their lives spiral into uncertainty as the American man and his young daughter arrive to claim their new family member. The choice of who will cross the oceans to a new life lies heavy on the shoulders of Soon-Young, Soon-Ja and their scheming uncle. Unbeknownst to them, the American father harbors a secret agenda behind the adoption, adding yet another layer of suspense to their unfolding drama...
