Plot

In the heart of 1930s London, the enchanting tale of "Ballet Shoes" unfolds. It follows the life of three unique orphans - Pauline (Emma Watson), Petrova (Yasmin Paige), and Posy Fossil (Lucy Boynton) - who find a home in the eccentric world of their adoptive Great Uncle Matthew (Richard Griffiths). Raised as sisters by the selfless Sylvia Brown (Emilia Fox), the spirited Matthew's niece, they are called upon to navigate their dreams amidst a sea of financial uncertainty. Each of the Fossil sisters holds a distinct and burning ambition: Pauline yearns for the spotlight as an actress, Petrova harbors dreams of soaring the skies as an aviator, and Posy, with a natural grace, seems destined to twirl her way into the world of ballet. However, their dreams are thrown into disarray when their benefactor, Great Uncle Matthew, mysteriously vanishes, and with him, their financial security. As the tale evolves, their home becomes a haven for three intriguing boarders - a garage owner with a knack for mechanics, a retired English professor with wisdom to share, and a passionate dance teacher, Theo Dane (Lucy Cohu). Dane, recognizing the potential in the girls, secures them a place in her prestigious dance school under the stern eye of Madame Fidolia (Dame Eileen Atkins). In the face of adversity, the sisters must step into the limelight to help raise money, each discovering their unique talents in the process: Pauline's dramatic flair, Petrova's mechanical genius, and Posy's captivating dance moves. "Ballet Shoes" is a heartwarming journey of resilience, as the girls struggle to balance survival with their personal dreams, their fight against circumstance becoming a testament to their shared bond and indomitable spirit.
