Plot
In the rugged terrains of Medicine Bow, Wyoming, a cowhand named Trampas is dispatched on a mission to Mexico, tasked to purchase a bull for his employer. His expedition takes an unexpected detour in Laredo, a notorious border town straddling Texas and Mexico, where danger lurks in every corner. Despite forewarnings, Trampas, in an uncanny echo of Dumas' timeless "The Three Musketeers", finds himself pledged to battle three distinct Texas Rangers within a mere hour of his arrival.
Unlike the legendary D'Artagnan, Trampas has little inclination for combat. All he seeks is a swift escape from Laredo. However, destiny has other plans. His path crosses with the Rangers again, who, it turns out, are comrades on a perilous quest to locate a vanished train bearing a hefty payroll. Realizing Trampas is headed in their direction, they propose an uneasy alliance, promising to postpone their duel until their mission is accomplished.
With no other option, Trampas reluctantly agrees. The group stumbles upon the missing train, but the sight that greets them wipes out their disputes. The train has been plundered, its passengers mercilessly slaughtered, leaving behind a lone survivor, an infant, shielded by his mother's lifeless body. The urgency to ensure the infant's survival drives them to cross the Rio Grande, aiming for a nearby town where a cantina owner, Mama Dolores, known for her large brood of children, resides.
Their journey is fraught with danger, encountering hostile Mexican Urales and raiding Yaquis. As the plot thickens, the Rangers grow suspicious. Could the Yaquis be behind the train robbery? However, the pieces don't fit. Yaquis are not known to rob trains or have a need for money. And the mystery deepens - where did they procure those high-end rifles?
