Plot

In the tumultuous era of WWII, a young man's dream of joining the Marines is dashed when he fails to meet the rigorous qualifications. He is consequently dismissed and sent home, his status symbolized by a light blue uniform - the melancholic hue of failure. A chance meeting with a battle-fatigued Marine Raider in a bar takes a violent turn when the young man is mugged, his 'baby blue' fatigues exchanged for the war vet's uniform. As fate would have it, this unexpected disguise propels the young man into an uncharted journey. Hitchhiking his way home, he finds himself in a quaint Colorado mountain town, where the townsfolk mistake his stolen uniform for that of a war hero. Embraced by the community, he is showered with admiration, free food, and even finds himself falling in love with a kind-hearted waitress who welcomes him into her family. However, the town's idyllic charm conceals a darker reality. In the nearby woods, an American-Japanese internment camp, a haunting relic of the war, stands ominously. This inclusion sparks intrigue, as no such camps ever existed near towns in reality. The plot thickens when three American-Japanese teens escape from this camp, triggering a town-wide manhunt. Suddenly, our hero is thrust into a perilous situation, recruited to track down the escapees. As the town's misdirected fury threatens to boil over, he must navigate this dangerous path, all while grappling with his own identity, his newfound love, and the haunting secret embedded in the town's woods. Baby Blue Marine is a compelling exploration of mistaken identity, love, and the haunting shadows of war in a seemingly peaceful town.
