Another Life (2001)

In the tense prelude to World War I, Edith Graydon binds herself in matrimony to her sweetheart, Percy Thomson. Percy survives the war's wrath, but their union is anything but blissful. Edith's heart is a barren land for Percy, devoid of the love he yearns for, a reality he grapples with daily. Percy's possessiveness transforms their mundane life into an unending battlefield. In this tumultuous backdrop, Edith finds solace in Frederick Bywaters, a past flame of her sister's. Their passionate affair unfurls over time, casting a shadow over her lawful marriage. Edith's fervent pleas for separation or divorce from Percy fall on deaf ears, leaving both her and Bywaters at the brink of desperation. One ill-fated evening, under a shroud of darkness, as Edith strolls alongside her husband, Bywaters exacts a fatal blow, stabbing Percy to his untimely demise. The law's unforgiving hand clasps onto Edith and Bywaters, charging them both with murder. Edith proclaims her innocence till her last breath, but their shared fate is sealed. In 1923, a tragic end awaits them both on the gallows, a chilling climax to this tale based on true events.
