Plot

In the wake of the Mandal Commission report and the ensuing verdict from the Supreme Court of India to uphold a 27 percent reservation for Dalits and marginalized castes, a wave of uproar sparks off amongst right-wing political factions. The spotlight then falls on Shakuntala Thakral Mahavidyalal, a private college exempt from the decision, as its Principal, Prabhakar Anand, openly supports the controversial verdict. This endorsement stirs resentment amongst the trustees and the newly instated Vice-Principal, Mithilesh Singh, a man with a staggering Rs.1200 Crore investment in private coaching classes. Unyielding, Prabhakar stands his ground, leading to a dramatic resignation that forces him and his family - his loving wife, Kavita, and their daughter, Poorbi - to retreat to the humble abode of Shambhu Yadav's Tabela. Their family home is usurped by Mithilesh's sprawling coaching classes. Efforts to reclaim their home prove futile, leading to their isolation and summons for Prabhakar, who is accused of vandalizing the coaching class premises and threatening its staff. This tale of resilience and defiance against an oppressive system, 'Aarakshan', paints a vivid picture of societal struggles and political machinations, leaving viewers on the edge of their seat, intrigued to know what happens next.
