In the heart of a spirited 11-year-old wrestling prodigy, Kace Gabriel, beats the heart of a filmmaker. With an untarnished wrestling record, Kace lays down his wrestling gear to pursue a fresh challenge: film-making. His mission is personal: to elicit laughter from his comatose best friend, Charlie, on Christmas Day, hoping it will be the key to his awakening. Ajax Gabriel, Kace's father and an Olympic wrestler with a shadowy alternate profession, stands by his son's ambitious endeavor but warns that Charlie's slumber may linger. A week shy of Christmas, their unconventional film, brimming with eccentric characters and headlined by Ajax, is completed, primed to spread cheer. Ajax sets off for Africa to participate in The Christmas Coup in the Congo, a wrestling competition designed to align with his Christmas day return, just in time for the film's premiere. However, the festive tides take an unexpected turn. The unique film, stored on a single hard drive, is snatched by disillusioned actors seeking revenge. Simultaneously, the wrestling tournament in Congo morphs into a literal coup, leading to the overthrow of the country's communist leader, with Ajax unwittingly at the heart of the upheaval. With communication lines to Ajax severed, Kace and his mother embark on a thrilling chase, navigating a labyrinth of deceit and danger to retrieve their stolen film, held captive for ransom.
