Nestled within the craggy contours of Spain lies the pint-sized mountain hamlet of Fuentejuela de Arriba, home to a mere 16 aging inhabitants. This whimsical comedy unspools the frantic endeavors of these residents to prevent their beloved town from being absorbed by the rival town of Fuentejuela de Abajo. The threat is real - if the population dips below 15, Fuentejuela de Arriba will be reduced to a mere appendage of its rival, a fate that fills the villagers with despair. In this swirling maelstrom of uncertainty, enter Teresa, the resourceful wife of Fuentejuela de Arriba's mayor. She concocts a daring plan to bolster the town's numbers after a chance encounter with Azquil, Shukra, Latisha, and Calulu, four African fugitives duped into working as exotic dancers at a nearby brothel. Teresa envisions them as the unlikely saviors of her town, a vision that becomes even more pressing following the demise of Alfonso, the town's sole councilor. Yet, the road to salvation is littered with obstacles. The suspicious villagers regard the newcomers as potential criminals. Teresa uncovers her husband's treachery, discovering not infidelity but his political alignment with Fuentejuela de Abajo's mayor, Campello, in a sinister plot to transform their quaint hamlet into a tourist trap post-annexation. Undeterred, Teresa ropes in her friends Jaime and Guiri to help integrate the Africans into the town. What ensues is a whirlwind of romantic entanglements and blossoming rivalries that stir the pot of this eccentric community. The tension reaches a boiling point during Fuentejuela de Arriba's local festivities, when Campello and the Fuentejuela de Abajo entourage pay their rivals a visit, setting the stage for a showdown with consequences as unpredictable as the fate of Fuentejuela de Arriba itself.
