In the quaint, sea-sprayed corners of New England, Cody Brewer ekes out a living as a solitary lobster man. His daily toils in the bracing ocean, alongside his wife Martha's humble earnings as a diner waitress, barely manage to keep the wolf from the door. Martha, although comfortable with their austere life, yearns for a touch of romance, a distraction from the monotony of their existence. Their preteen son, Jake, however, struggles with their financial shortcomings, resulting in relentless mockery from his affluent peers, especially the town bully, Timmy Brock. During one of his usual lobstering excursions, Cody stumbles upon a peculiar green moss nestled in his lobster trap.
