Plot

Glistening in the haze of young love and blossoming crushes, A Kiss for Corliss spins a tale centered around the charmingly naive Corliss Archer. After an electrifying encounter with the suave and thrice-divorced Kenneth Marquis, Corliss, in an audacious bid to spark jealousy in her boyfriend Dexter, takes to her diary and fabricates a romantic liaison with the sophisticated Marquis. With her father's past as the attorney who represented Marquis' ex-wife in his most recent divorce, this figment of her imagination soon spirals out of her control. As the clock ticks past curfew and Corliss and Dexter fail to return home until dawn, Corliss seeks refuge in a hapless pretense of amnesia to evade the impending wrath of her parents. To jog her memory, the Archers delve into the pages of Corliss' diary, and in doing so, stumble upon her imaginative relationship with Marquis. The plot thickens as they summon Marquis, who, fueled by a bitter resentment towards Mr. Archer, not only verifies the fictional romance but even escalates it to an engagement, splashing it across the local newspapers. Corliss, unable to maintain her charade any longer, attempts to untangle the web of lies she has spun, but her pleas fall on deaf ears amidst the frenzy of her public engagement. Further complicating matters is the unexpected arrival of Corliss' uncle, a navy chaplain brimming with excitement to officiate the wedding. As the town buzzes with anticipation, Corliss must navigate the labyrinth of her own creation, striving to rectify her mistakes without losing herself in the process.
