Plot

In the brutal aftermath of the English civil war, a skittish Royalist named Whitehead, a former aide to a deceased alchemist, finds himself fleeing the battlefield's carnage. He stumbles into the unexpected company of three affable Roundhead recruits, more concerned with finding solace in a nearby ale-house than continuing their military endeavors. Their already turbulent journey takes a menacing turn when they cross paths with the intimidating O'Neil, a fellow servant of the late alchemist, now wielding stolen alchemical documents. With a menacing glint in his eye, he coerces Whitehead to divine for hidden gold within the vast, overgrown field that engulfs them. As Whitehead's trembling hands uncover a metal box, the excavation commences, but the field is not as innocent as it seems. A potent cocktail of greed, fear, and self-preservation begins to brew, intensified by an unintentional feast of hallucinogenic mushrooms found in the field's deceptive undergrowth. The group is gradually consumed by a maelstrom of psychedelia, madness, and unchecked chaos, as they grapple with the terrifying question of what malevolent treasure the field really harbors. With death lurking ominously on their path, they must confront the tormenting uncertainty - is it the field claiming their sanity, or is it their own minds spiralling into the abyss? The tantalizing mystery of the malignant field unfolds, leaving footprints that will haunt the viewer long after the credits roll.
