Plot

After the calamitous staging of "Peter Pan", the fervent members of Cornley Polytechnic's amateur dramatic society find themselves barred from joining this year's rendition of "A Christmas Carol", starring none other than Sir Derek Jacobi. Unfazed by this minor setback, the spirited thespians ingeniously hijack the show, creating their own version of the timeless classic. Tensions rise as both Chris (Henry Shields) and Robert (Henry Lewis) vie for the coveted role of Scrooge, while the jittery Dennis (Jonathan Sayer), playing Bob Cratchit, is compelled to read his lines off props, and Annie (Nancy Zamit) finds herself literally stuck to her chair. The show takes an unpredictable turn when Lucy's (Ellie Morris') Tiny Tim is incapacitated by tumbling set pieces, forcing the imposing Robert to step into the diminutive role. As they grapple with malfunctioning greenscreen effects and an unexpected romantic scandal, their ambitious adaptation seems destined for disaster. However, in the darkest hour, Sandra's (Charlie Russell's) Aunt Diana (Dame Diana Rigg) arrives, offering a glimmer of hope for the beleaguered troupe.
