In the shadowy folds of a small town circa 1860, a vicious wave of smallpox claims the life of a young boy. As his mortal existence ceases, he embarks on a spectral journey into a realm beyond our understanding, a realm that offers another chance at life. This ethereal library, shimmering with countless storybook lives, serves as a transitional sanctuary where souls are prepared for reincarnation. However, the boy's journey towards rebirth isn't so straightforward. The relentless, malevolent darkness of the lower earth seizes him, ensnaring him within the chaotic corners of its hellish maze. The underworld writhes and battles to prevent him from ascending to the next level of existence. Against this backdrop of cosmic struggle, four celestial guardians are dispatched to his aid. These ethereal warriors, armed with only a fleeting half-hour, must navigate the infernal labyrinth to locate and rescue the lost soul.
