The club's president, the enchanting Urushi Yaotome, a virtuoso of shogi, enthusiastically welcomes Ayumu, her long-awaited playing partner. As his senior, Urushi takes it upon herself to guide Ayumu through the complex world of shogi, while struggling with her own unexpected bouts of embarrassment. Ayumu, an honest, stoic soul, finds joy in referring to Urushi as 'cute,' much to her chagrin. Despite his growing affection for Urushi, Ayumu holds back his confession of love, making a pact with himself - he will not confess until he defeats her in a shogi match. The two navigate their way through the quirks of school life and the intricacies of shogi, their journey filled with moments of warmth and humor. Ayumu treasures each second spent with Urushi, yet the elusive victory in shogi remains a distant dream.
