Plot

In the shadow of a Europe teetering on the brink, The Tunnel unveils a chilling narrative set in the contrasting locales of Folkestone and Calais. The sudden demise of a high-profile French politician on the border between the U.K. and France triggers a complex investigation. Tasked with unravelling the mystery are detectives Karl Roebuck, a character brought to life by the talented Stephen Dillane (known for "Game of Thrones"), and Elise Wassermann, a role masterfully portrayed by Clémence Poésy (famed for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II"). The plot thickens when a startling revelation at the crime scene catapults them into an uneasy alliance. The detectives, representing their distinct nations, find themselves in a labyrinth of danger and deception as they pursue a politically-driven serial killer. This malevolent entity employs a series of increasingly elaborate and ingenious stratagems, his actions shedding a disturbing light on the moral decay of contemporary society. As the intricate narrative unfurls, Karl and Elise are inexorably drawn into the killer's deeply personal agenda. The Tunnel serves up a captivating blend of suspense and intrigue, a sinister dance leading the detectives deeper into the psyche of a disturbed antagonist. The show masterfully explores the tense dynamics of international collaboration, the challenging quest for justice, and the haunting echoes of personal and societal moral dilemmas.
