Plot

Struggling under the weight of life's harshest trials, Lee Young Shin (Gong Hyo Jin) shows the world that resilience can take many forms. As a devoted single mother on the quaint Blue Island, she navigates the challenges of raising her spirited 8-year-old daughter Bom (Seo Shin Ae), who unknowingly lives with HIV, while caring for her dementia-stricken grandfather (Shin Goo), whose wandering tendencies add another layer of complexity to her already demanding life. Young Shin's life is a delicate balancing act: teaching Bom how to manage her condition as a playful game, all the while preserving it as a secret from their close-knit island community. Enter Dr. Min Ki Seo, an arrogant figure who initially holds humanity at arm's length. Carrying the last wish of his deceased girlfriend, he travels to Blue Island to find Young Shin and Bom. His girlfriend's unwitting gift of tainted blood to Bom during a hospital treatment has left him with a burden of guilt he seeks to alleviate. In Young Shin, Min Ki Seo encounters a woman who, despite her adversity, embraces her fate with a quiet strength that challenges his cynical worldview. The single mother's unwavering acceptance of her lot and her relentless pursuit of a normal life for her daughter slowly begins to chip away at his aloof exterior. As Min Ki Seo plunges into the whirlwind of Young Shin's life, he discovers a warmth within himself that he never knew existed. "Thank You" (2007) is a poignant exploration of love, resilience, and forgiveness against the backdrop of life's harshest realities. It's a tale that shows how the most difficult curveballs can lead to the most profound transformations, reminding us all of the enduring power of the human spirit.
