Strange Angel (2018)

In the heart of the 1940s, Strange Angel traces the extraordinary journey of Jack Parsons, not just a rocket engineer of exceptional talent, but also a man whose life was as explosive as the rockets he designed. Hired by the US government to pioneer their rocket program, Parsons views this as merely the springboard for astronomical exploration yet to come. His curiosity, as boundless as the cosmos he dreams of conquering, leads him to cross paths with his enigmatic new neighbor, Ernest Donovan in 1938. Donovan, a disciple of the notorious English occultist Aleister Crowley, introduces Parsons to an intoxicating world where the rule of law is simply "Do what thou wilt." Crowley's Thelema religious movement, with its clandestine orgies said to conjure 'sexual magic' and occult rituals designed to bridge communication with 'the other side', lures Parsons into its mysterious depths. As Parsons spirals deeper into this clandestine world, the lines between science and the occult blur. His unconventional beliefs and radical lifestyle soon put his steady marriage and prestigious job on a knife's edge.
