Plot
In the heart of Belgium, 65-year-old Omar Boulasmoum, a widower with a heart as vast as his homeland, operates a unique repatriation enterprise. He weaves a tapestry of solace for Moroccan expatriates, arranging funeral insurances and facilitating their final journey back to their roots. Poised on the brink of his pilgrimage to Mecca, Omar makes a poignant decision - bestowing the family business onto his daughter Nadia, and his estranged son, Ishmael, affectionately known as Smile. This gift is not just an inheritance, but a desperate plea to guide his wayward son back onto the right path.
However, Omar's departure ignites a series of unforeseen challenges. Nadia and Smile find themselves in the eye of a familial storm, grappling with a contentious decision - should their client rest in peace in their adopted home or in the soil of Morocco? The discord threatens to unravel the fabric of their family business, until Smile, through a serendipitous epiphany, proposes a unique compromise - to inter the departed 'here' in the hallowed earth from 'there'. A solution that's as authentically Belgian as it is Moroccan, providing a poignant testament to their dual identities.
