In the wake of a cataclysmic revolt that fractured Japan's Yokohama region into a detached island, civilization was left in ruins. This isolated island, now known as the "Lost Ground", became a testament to human resilience as its inhabitants gradually constructed a new city within its desolate landscape. Enclosed within a protective barrier, this city emerged as a beacon of order amidst the surrounding wasteland, home to the less fortunate. Yet, in the ashes of the old world, a paranormal phenomenon took shape. Known as Alter, this extraordinary power allowed certain individuals, named "Inners", to manipulate matter at the atomic level. These Alter Users were divided: some resided within the city, adhering to the law, while others, deemed "Natives", misused their powers outside the city's protective confines. To maintain control, a police force named HOLD was established, with a specialized division, HOLY, composed entirely of law-abiding Alter Users. But with growing power, HOLD and HOLY's rule over the Lost Ground began to sour, morphing into oppressive tyranny that enslaved the wasteland's inhabitants. This is where we meet Kazuma, a fiery, headstrong Native living a humble life with a young girl named Kanami, eking out a living on a farm and executing tasks for his friend Kimishima. However, Kazuma's world is upended as he gets entangled in the conflict with HOLY, igniting a fierce rivalry with Ryuhou, one of HOLY's high-ranking officers. As tensions escalate, the true motives of HOLY and its leader, Martin Zigmar, slowly reveal themselves. S-CRY-Ed is a thrilling saga set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, where extraordinary powers are a blessing and a curse, and the fight for freedom becomes a battle of will, strength, and survival.
