Plot

Returning to his hometown, Ren Homura, a middle school student, grapples with a haze of forgotten memories. His life takes an unpredictable turn when a routine cellphone repair introduces him to the world of Monster Strike, a game that soon bleeds into reality. Suddenly, Ren finds himself under attack, forced into a live-action Monster Strike battle by a mysterious aggressor. Summoning Oragon, a pocket-sized dragon from the game, Ren stands his ground. He isn't alone; his classmate Aoi Mizusawa partners with him, and an enigmatic alter ego, born from his obscured past, lends a hand. Together, they banish the aggressor's monster, seemingly liberating the man from an insidious power's grip. This victory catapults Ren into the town's Monster Strike Stadium leagues, a realm where the game's battles simulate reality through intricate holography. Aoi dreams of reassembling her old team of Monster Strike players, with Ren filling a vacant spot. But Akira Kagetsuki, a potential teammate, rejects Ren as a replacement for their departed fourth member, Haruma. Meanwhile, the usually carefree Minami Wakaba falls prey to the same malevolent force that once compelled their attacker. As Ren and Aoi navigate this complex world, they must also grapple with unraveling Ren's forgotten past and saving their friends from the shadows of dark forces.
