The lively home is also shared with Carol Trainor, Maude's daughter from a previous marriage who is navigating the waters of divorce, and Philip, Carol's bright-eyed son. Adding to the colorful mix are a handful of unforgettable characters: Dr. Arthur Harmon, Walter's best friend from their Army days turned conservative foil to Maude's progressive beliefs; Vivian Cavender-Harmon, Maude's college bestie whose innocence is as endearing as it is frustrating, and who becomes Harmon's wife in the series' third season.
