In the heart of Tokyo, Inuyashiki Ichirou leads a life steeped in cruel misfortune. Aged only 58 but bearing the weight of a man in his seventies, Ichirou's existence is a bitter blend of monotony and heartache. His toil to provide for his family is met with cold indifference, his sacrifices just seen as a financial obligation. His only companion in this cruel world is his loyal dog, the sole creature that offers him unconditional love. The weight of his life grows heavier when an incurable cancer diagnosis strikes, pushing him further into the abyss of despair. As he prepares to share his grim prognosis with his unfeeling family, Ichirou finds himself alone in his sorrow. He seeks solace in a heartfelt conversation with his canine friend, the only empathetic ear in his life. During this poignant moment, a mysterious figure emerges from the shadows. A blinding celestial light from the night sky descends upon the pair, altering Ichirou's life in unimaginable ways.
