Before the cataclysmic implosion of Planet Krypton, Jor-El, in a desperate bid to test the survival odds, dispatched his son Kal-El's treasured canine companion, Krypto, into the cosmos. However, a mishap in the trajectory thrust Krypto into a prolonged state of suspended animation, arriving on Earth years after the future Superman. Under Earth's yellow sun, Krypto manifests an array of extraordinary Kryptonian abilities. A solitary boy, Kevin Whitney, rescues the super dog from obscurity, with the explicit blessing of Superman.
