Three centuries back, in the icy grips of Siberia, the legendary samurai, Yagyu Jubei, waged a fierce battle against the malicious Ryujoji clan, led by Kitaretsusai of the Northern Yagyu clan. The confrontation came with a heavy price; Yagyu's daughter, Freesia, was trapped in an icy slumber, frozen in time. As Yagyu lay on his deathbed, he transferred his formidable skills into a heart-shaped eyepatch with a purpose. He instructed his faithful attendant, Koinosuke, to find a worthy inheritor for these abilities. In the present day, as global warming thaws the land, Freesia breaks free from her frozen tomb. She moves to Japan, disguising herself as a middle school transfer student, where she befriends Jiyuu Nanohana. Jiyuu, a lively schoolgirl, has been nicknamed "Jubei" by her father, a name that once belonged to a legendary samurai. Little does she know, her life is about to change dramatically. Upon crossing paths with Jiyuu, Koinosuke, who has been seemingly untouched by time, recognizes in her the potential successor Yagyu Jubei had envisioned.
