Humble María (1995)

Residing on the fringes of the city, Maria, a 15-year-old scavenger, finds her world upended following the death of her godmother, her only family. On her deathbed, her godmother implores the local priest to provide for Maria, not to abandon her to the merciless clutches of life. Heeding her heartfelt plea, the priest entreats his benefactor, Don Fernando, to employ Maria as a household servant.
