Plot

GLOW is short for Glamorous Ladies of Wrestling. The series takes place in the 1980s and opens with Ruth Wilder, a struggling actress in Los Angeles. Desperate for any acting role, Ruth and her best friend, the slightly more successful actress Debbie Egan, begin to act on the show. They develop personas and work with an ensemble cast as part of a cheesy, campy wrestling troupe. Over the course of the show, GLOW gains fame and popularity, eventually moving from the small stage to the big screen. The rest of the show tracks the adventures of the woman as they perform on GLOW and manage complicated personal lives.
