Engulfed in the throes of a ceaseless war, China remains hostage to the remnants of the defeated Taipingtao Revolution. As if the conflict wasn't corrosive enough, the desolation from the rebellion's colossal death toll births a sinister miasma, birthing malevolent entities known as "wangliang." These monstrosities possess the power to transform humans into grotesque demons, perpetuating a horrifying cycle of death, despair, and more miasma. In response, the Tianyuan, a group of immortal deities, take up arms by selecting "Hunters" from the human population. These hunters are paired with the "Guizhan," miasma-absorbing specialists who can morph into demons, becoming the crucial counterforce against the wangliang invasion. However, the relentless battle takes a tragic turn when an uncontrollable Guizhan leads to the dissolution of the Sixth Hunter Unit. In the aftermath, the Tianyuan place their faith in three promising Hunters—Ji Ying, Qiao Xun, and Yan Ding—to resurrect the team. In a surprising move, they also appoint Xiao Ling—the young Guizhan who triggered the former unit's disintegration—to fight alongside the trio. With tensions simmering among the newly formed team, they must reconcile their differences and harness their unique talents to reclaim victory against the common enemy. The future of their land hangs in the balance, a testament to their unity and courage in the face of overwhelming adversity.
