In a world shaped by others, Julia stands on the precipice of a life meticulously planned by her mother and betrothed. Over half a century earlier and continents away, in the throes of the mid-century Spanish Guinea, Carmen, a young woman, abandons the urban comforts to meet her father in the exotic colony. Africa, however, unveils a side far more savage and untamed than she ever envisioned. Confronted with an unjust society, Carmen finds herself wrestling with a challenging quandary: to conform to the oppressive rules or follow the call of her heart. Intricately woven by a bond as strong as blood, the lives of Carmen and Julia, grandmother and granddaughter, echo across time and space. Despite their separation of more than fifty years and geographical distance, they share more than familial ties.
